Covers with Dresses

Hello, and welcome to another Top 5 Wednesday post and the first one of March! I appreciate this is published much later than Wednesday due to the prompts being released late and my busy schedule making it incredibly difficult to write this post any sooner. As Wednesday the 6th is National Dress Day, this prompt concerns our favourite covers with a dress on them. I must admit that I don't really have many books I have read with dresses on them, so for some of these covers, I've had to take a wider approach to what constitutes a dress, but without any further introduction, let's get into my top 5 favourite covers with dresses.

1. The Contract by Karissa Knight

We start this list with the cover of an erotica thriller, which I suppose isn't a very big surprise because if you want a book cover with some of the most elegant dresses, then erotica is the place to go. The dress worn by Mina on the front cover seems to be a lovely but expensive dress which would most likely look amazing on any lady! The red is also beautiful and may be likened to roses, but the colour, in general, can often be likened to love due to the red love heart we so often symbolise with love.

2. Phoenix by Ellie Simms

This next book is another erotica thriller-type book and the last one on this list. I don't really like calling this erotica due to the contents of this book and how most of the sexual intercourse is, in fact, rape; however, going by the objective genres, erotica it is. The cover of this book again features a lovely, elegant, and expensive-looking dress that looks attractive. Compared to the book above, although this dress is once again red, it is a significantly darker red. The majority of the cover of this book is red, so it is definitely interesting how these erotic books make so much use of the colour red. But going back to the dress, it is a very nice dress which I'm sure you could expect to see at fancy dinners out.

3. Last Chance by Mocha Von Bee

This is one of several books in a series set in 1990s Ireland. The book cover for Last Chance features a much simpler dress than the previous two books. I think this dress reflects the time period that the book was set, but ultimately, the dress Kit is wearing is very beautiful. It seems to be one of my favourite colours, sky blue with lovely pink flowers. Sometimes less is more and I think in this case less really is more. The dress featured is more of an everyday dress whereas the previous dresses were going out dresses.

4. This is How You Fall in Love by Anika Hussain

This book cover is a bit harder to justify as although I would consider it to feature a dress, others may disagree. Ultimately, this is another simple short dress that has been paired with some leggings to really complement the dress. Adnan's choice of black Dr Marten boots further makes this a great appearance for her. But going back to the dress, it is a lovely purple dress, which I think is perfect for Adnan. This dress is very obviously getting all the males looking at her, as is so very obvious on this book cover!

5. Managing the Matthews by Haleigh Wenger

This final dress is somewhere between the very nice, fine going-out dresses featured on the first two book covers and the more simple dresses featured in 3rd and 4th place. This dress is a lovely, light pink colour decorated with cherries all over it. This dress also leaves lots of skin on show, which may be more for practical reasons due to this book being set in Hollywood. Ultimately, although this is in 5th place, the dress is just as nice as every other dress featured on this list.

Thank you for reading another one of my Top 5 Wednesday posts! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it! Please do share your favourite covers with dresses in the comments, and if you like the sound of any of the books mentioned, please do check out my review on this blog. I look forward to the next Top 5 Wednesday blog! See you next week!
