Zero Negativity by Ant Middleton is a book that explores the importance of having a positive mindset instead of a negative one. This book looks at many events from Middleton's life and explains the lessons to be learnt from these events which can be generalised to anyone's life. It covers various themes such as how to be the best version of yourself and the secret to being a successful leader and parent. As well as hearing Middleton's perspective throughout, we also hear from Emilie, Ant's wife, who provides her perspective on the lessons taught by Ant and further reflects that these lessons can apply to anyone to help everyone become the best version of themselves.
I loved this book because we learn much about Ant and his time not only during childhood but also during his time in the military and beyond. We are told some fascinating stories which can really make the reader stop and think which is such a unique and amazing part of this book. As well as this, the lessons he provides us are easy for anyone to make use of and Ant shows us how he has applied these lessons to his own life to show us that it is all possible if you put your mind to it. The world is full of negative and stressful events but this book will change your perspectives on matters such as failure for the better.
There are not many things at all I can critique about this book as it is highly gripping and offers some fascinating stories and valuable life advice, much of which is often not shared, especially not at school. The chapters are also split up into different headings so even if some of the chapters are a bit long it offers places for the reader to pause and reflect.
Altogether, I rate this book 4 stars making it a very good book as it is highly gripping which some amazing life advice to help combat a negative mindset with positivity whilst also educating us about Ant's adventures in his extremely busy life. I definitely recommend this book for anyone but particularly those with negative mindsets, those experiencing stress or depression and even those with low self-confidence and other related characteristics. I can't wait to read the next books!
