HRH Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh

It is with great sadness that yesterday the world was made aware that His Royal Highness Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh has sadly passed away in Windsor. This is indeed emotional news not only for the Royal family but also the United Kingdom and the world as a whole. I share my condolences with Her Majesty The Queen and the rest of the Royal family during this incredibly sad time. We know the prince had a great life and has done many great things such as The Duke of Edinburgh's Award which will be one of his lasting legacies which will help us always remember him.

Due to this sad death, the United Kingdom has entered a National Mourning Period which will last until the Prince's funeral. This is to help us honour the person and many things happen including news presenters wearing black on television and flags should be raised at Half Mast. Here on Book Portal, we have planned our own protocol for this national mourning period. The blog has now gone to a black colour and it will be staying black for the duration of the national mourning period. We have also acknowledged the Prince's death on the home screen just below the title of the blog. Furthermore, I plan to be mindful about what posts I publish during this sad period and I hope to publish more poetry and texts possibly linked to the royals and/or death as well as a live blog post covering the Prince's death. All these measures will last for the duration of the National Mourning Period and I trust you understand the decision to take these measures to show respect.

Thank you for all your continued support and may I leave one more message, "God Save the Queen".
