1. Reading improves memory- We learned a few days ago that reading will make you smarter and build your knowledge; however, how do we remember it all? Well, rest assured. Many studies show that if you do not use your memory you lose it. Crossword puzzles are an example of a word game that staves off Alzheimer's and it is the same for games like chess. Reading, although not a game, also helps you stretch your memory muscles in a similar way. Reading requires remembering details, facts and figures in Literature, plot lines, themes and characters. This does not then only improve memory of what you are reading, it improves your all round memory which is a great thing.
2. Reading leads to professional advancement- With an increased self-confidence due to your enhanced communication skills through reading, your career may also benefit. People who are knowledgeable on many topics and well-read and well-spoken, usually get promotions far more often and quickly than their peers with a more limited vocabulary and less general knowledge. For example, many of the most successful people in the world, mainly the CEOs of big companies, are known to read as much as they can with many trying to read one book a week and they achieve that goal despite their busy lives.
