3rd December 2020 Book Portal Advent

1. Improve your vocabulary- Back in secondary school, you may remember when you learned how to infer the meaning of one word by reading the context of the other words in the sentence, or how my English teacher puts it 'Reading between the lines. You get this same benefit from reading many books. When reading books, particularly challenging books like the classics, you will find yourself exposed to many new words that you wouldn't otherwise be exposed to. It is for this reason that reading is excellent to help build your vocabulary.

2. Reading builds your knowledge- You do not have to be a science professor to understand that reading has many mental benefits such as increased intelligence. It is quite simple that the more you read, the more you will know. This may be true the most with non-fiction but you will also learn new things with fiction as well. You may not remember all the details that you have read about but one day the knowledge you have gathered may come in handy. It is always likely to be with you subconsciously!

Book of the Day

Today's book of the day is Dads great advice for teens by Marc Fienberg. This is a great self-help book which is perfect for teenagers and young adults. It will cover everything a teenager needs to know including school, mistakes, social media, sex, alcohol and drugs and would be a great Christmas present for a teenager this Christmas. I enjoyed it because it has been written for teenagers by someone who has lots of good advice to offer for these people. Please follow this link https://amzn.to/3fjCl9Y to get your copy of the book today from Amazon.
