1. Gets you away from digital distractions- If you, like many others, feel overwhelmed with the flashing lights, beeps, boops and ring-a-dings that burn up our computing lives, then give books a chance. When you find some good books, you will find yourself drawn into the subject matter. You will want to spend more time reading. By spending more time reading books, you will have less time for the plethora of the digital gadgets begging for our attention.
2. Reading decreases Alzheimer's Risk- This is in my opinion probably one of the best benefits of reading in my opinion. Reading is taking lots of brainpower. The mental cognition aspects of reading help to lower the beta-amyloid protein levels which is associated with Alzheimer's. Researchers found direct associations between mentally demanding activities and beta-amyloid protein levels. So reading books frequently is definitely helpful in reducing the risk of developing serious mental illnesses such as Alzheimer's.
