 1. Improves your reasoning skills- Books for professionals contain arguments for or against actions within. A book on cooking argues that Chili power goes well with beef and goes poorly with ice-cream. A book on building a business argues that testing an idea for profitability before setting up is a smart strategy and argues against just barreling forward with the idea without testing. Also, a book about how to be the best runner will be in favour of training methods like speed and continuous training but would advise against improving your muscular strength. You too will be able to reason better with the knowledge you gain. Some of the arguments will rub off on you but others you will argue against. Regardless of each, you will gain better reasoning skills.

2. Reading brings stress relief- Research has shown that reading is the best way to reduce stress. It is surprisingly more effective than taking a walk, listening to music, playing a video game or having a drink or a cup of tea. Studies have shown that after hardly five minutes of reading, the muscles relax and the heart rate slows down. When your reading a book, your focus must be on what you read so you get distracted in that specific literary world. So if you suffer from stress and you are not reading why not? When will you start?
